Crystal Clear Deep Casting Epoxy Resin

Crystal Clear Deep Casting is a highly transparent epoxy resin for a wide range of applications with excellent UV resistance and self-venting for a bubble-free finish.

The epoxy resin is ideal for artistic and decorative applications, casting of large molded and cast parts as well as larger jewelry items or river tables up to 5 cm.

The epoxy resin is low viscosity, has maximum UV protection and excellent self-venting for a bubble-free finish.

The deep casting epoxy resin can be colored with various epoxy color pigments to achieve a spectacular result.

This resin is not suitable for small/thin castings smaller than 1 cm as it takes too long to cure.

Areas of application:

Production of river tables, large molded and cast parts as well as larger jewelry items with a casting height of 10 mm to 50 mm. (higher casting quantities possible depending on the room temperature and material quantity <22°C).

Production of molds where excellent transparency is expected/necessary.

For thinner castings use:

The maximum casting height of 5 cm is highly dependent on the ambient temperature. If the temperature exceeds 22°C, the maximum casting height is reduced
With a larger quantity, the processing time and the curing time are shorter!

If you have little experience, we recommend not processing the maximum amount at once.

If you still want to do this, work at 18°C with a large diameter mixing bucket and take into account a very short processing time!

Important: The higher the room temperature (>21 °C) and the larger the amount of casting, the lower the casting height should be. Epoxy resin reacts faster, especially in summer, which can lead to undesirable results.

With large quantities, such as 30 kg, overreactions can occur despite a reduced layer height. We therefore recommend pouring in two layers or using a resin system for larger layer thicknesses. Note: Temperature, pouring volume and layer height are crucial for best results.
Make sure the surface is dense and non-porous. This can cause air bubbles in the epoxy. To do this, use a thin layer of epoxy or primer.

Always use protective gloves and goggles when handling this material. Process the resin at room temperature (18 - 25 ° C) and humidity of less than 70%. To avoid deformation of the surface, the temperature must remain constant throughout the curing process. Also avoid direct sunlight through a window and avoid drafts.

Mix the A and B components in the correct ratio (A : B = 100 : 50 by weight) and mix well. Allow enough time to mix (2 - 3 minutes) and make sure to include the corners and bottom of the mixing bowl. Optionally, pour the whole thing into a second bowl and mix again. Now add all the color effects and stir again. Allow air bubbles to escape for a minute. If necessary, help by vibrating / rattling the cup. Make sure the product does not get too hot!

The epoxy resin is now ready to use. Apply the mixture with a brush/roller or pour the mixture with a thin stream into the desired mold or prepared model.

Make sure to use a large-bottomed mixing bowl for larger quantities. Avoid a thick layer in the mixing bowl as this will heat up very quickly!

Removing air bubbles is best done with an epoxy deaerator or with a flame. Please do not use flames if you have diluted the epoxy with alcohol or other flammable products.

If you want to apply the resin in several layers (multi-layer work):

Wet on wet:

When pouring a second layer of liquid into a first layer of epoxy liquid, you need to make sure that the exothermic reaction is completely worn off. An exothermic reaction is a reaction that releases energy. In this case, heat.
If you want to be sure, wait until the second coat is no longer tacky but you still see a fingerprint in the epoxy.

Wet on dry:

The previous layer must be sanded and made free of dust and grease.

Let op:
Wanneer de harscomponent wit en vlokkerig is, gaat het om gekristalliseerd hars.

De kristallisatie van epoxyhars is een fysisch proces, dat wordt veroorzaakt door externe factoren zoals kou of temperatuurschommelingen. Het is volledig omkeerbaar en vergelijkbaar met het bevriezen van water.

De belangrijkste oorzaken zijn:

Te lage temperaturen: Bij opslag of transport kunnen kristallen ontstaan bij temperaturen onder 15 °C.

Temperatuurschommelingen: Regelmatige wisselingen tussen warm en koud bevorderen de kristalvorming.

Hoge harszuiverheid: Epoxyhars met een hoge zuiverheid heeft een grotere neiging tot kristallisatie.

Lage viscositeit: Harsen die dunvloeibaar zijn, vormen sneller kristallen.

Dit proces treedt vooral op bij zeer lage temperaturen en kan worden omgekeerd door het hars in een waterbad te plaatsen (ongeveer 60 minuten bij 50 °C).

👉 Plaats eenvoudig de gesloten harscontainer in het waterbad. Laat het hars daarna weer afkoelen tot normale kamertemperatuur.
